Exile on Self-Imposed Street

July 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I could go into the myriad of reasons why I’ve stayed away from writing on here over the past three or so months, but none of them are important to You …  unless you’re around me day in/day out.  In which case, you’ve been with me Every Step of The Way.

If this is You …  Thanks.  I love you more than you will ever know.

My self-imposed silence is broken today for the simple fact of the date.  My big brother would have turned 50 years old today.  Except he decided to die eight years ago.  But I’m thinking of him lots today, and am hoping everyone will have a Happy Birthday for him.

Me, I’m missing him alot right now.

Sleeping and Better.

December 14, 2007 · 3 Comments

I’ve tried for the past couple of hours to wax poetic and stuff about last night.  Totally not working.  I’ve gone through at least 20 different things that just Didn’t Work.  So here it is:

After months of kidney disease, Candi went to sleep last night.  She was 17 years old.  And it toally sucked.  Every minute of it.  She was a pain in the ass like every cat is (to me, at least), but she was still Unexplainably Awesome, and it was very difficult to see her not be Well.  Anyone that’s had a pet can understand the pain that comes with all of this.  It’s been heartbreaking in every sense of the word, and like a cut, only time is going to help patch that wound.

However, there was something that left a great impression on me as we were leaving the vet’s office.  We were the last ones of the evening, and the doctor and her staff were so amazing to Melissa it’s beyond words.  There wasn’t one person that didn’t have tears, and I was sure to thank Dr. Wilber (terrible name, awesomest vet Ever) especially for having treated Melissa and Candi so well.  It was truly an amazing thing.

And I know Candi is So Much Better now.

Happy Birthday, I’m not Special …

December 7, 2007 · 1 Comment

At my age, birthdays have stopped having any real meaning.  It’s not like I’m turning 16, and getting a driver’s license.  Or some supercool new toy that I can obsess over for the next few days.

However, I’ve always counted on Two People calling me.

Not this year.

I’m Convincing Myself I’m Not Cheating.

The whole intention is to be Starting Over. I’m gonna go on a limb and blame another (much more regular) blogger, JenMac. It seems she had the (genius) idea of creating a website where people sent her ideas for new things to do over 365 days. Hence In The New was born. She was recently featured on CNN, and once I read her blog it was Clear.

I needed to start mine over. I needed to Start Anew. I needed A New Start.

More than anything, I wanted a new design. But blogger has gotten somewhat boring for me lately (maybe I’m just not creative enough), and to be completely honest, the name of this current (blogger-hosted) blog really doesn’t work for me anymore. It conjures up some dark, emo-tinged thing, and I sure as hell don’t want any part of that nonsense. Some of my music may be questionable at times, but I don’t want to be confused for some Emo-kid’s bedroom whine-o-rama.

So, I’ve been exploring other options. Shhhhhh.

I’ve imported this blog to another template and have been playing around with it a little bit here and there. This post, as a matter of fact, will be imported after it’s put on here. I’ve heard talk that I can even get this page to redirect to the Newer, More Appropriate page.

I think we can all agree this is very Neat.

This change will change my focus with it, as well.

As for the original title of this page (which really isn’t the Original Title, but I won’t get into that), it comes from a line in a song I happened to be listening to at the time.

Don’t worry … I’ll invite You soon enough.

"Things I’m Pretty Sure I’m Pretty Sure About"

July 15, 2007 · 1 Comment

With apologies to Peter King:

  • I do Lots of things, even though Some People don’t witness the act. Yes, trees Do make a sound if they fall with no one around, too.
  • Drinking beer and watching soccer do not a Single Life make. As Singular as the experience may be.
  • Washing dishes once? Enough.
  • Closed doors = “Leave Me Alone”
  • Jeans and Flip-Flops? Always a Bad Fashion Move. And this is coming from a guy with No Fashion Sense.
  • Gray is the new Black. It’s what happens when Black gets Washed a few times.
  • The new Against Me! album is much better than the fanboys would have you believe.
  • Laina has no idea how many people are in her corner.
  • I’m wicked-lovable from Great Distances.
  • Insomnia = Sounds more fun than it is!
